Wildest Met Gala afterparty looks (2024)

While the Met Gala was an uninspiring sea of beige and bland vanilla as the guests kept in line with the tame Garden of Time theme, there were no rules when it came to the afterparty.

After the annual style extravaganza at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York was done and dusted, the stars really put their best fashion foot forward in their wildest looks yet.

Leading the way were Rita Ora, Emily Ratajkowski and Doja Cat who wore revealing ensembles that barely covered their modesty.

Here are some of the highlights from last night’s celebrations.

Ora rocked the same nude bodysuit she wore on the Met Gala red carpet, however she ditched the floor-length beaded ‘necklace’ that exposed the sides of her body.

In its place was a column dress with beading on the skirt and oversized flowers strategically placed on her body, and the top part of her dress was entirely mesh and see-through.

She topped off her look with a white faux fur wrap as she partied with her husband, Thor director Taika Waititi, and the action hero himself, Chris Hemsworth.

Supermodel Ratajkowski swapped her sheer Atelier Versace gown for another see-through number, this time a vintage 1998 minidress from Givenchy.

The sheer blue frock featured sparkly star patterns and a hand-beaded fringe hem, which left the model’s black bra and G-string exposed.

Doja Cat was not to be outdone in the nudity stakes. After arriving at the Met in a wet T-shirt dress, the singer showed more skin at the afterparty while wearing a completely sheer number.

Her contemporary Cardi B took a more demure route in her red corset dress, albeit with a Madonna-esque cone bra. A vision in red, the rapper was hard to miss, thanks to the dramatic train on her dress.

All eyes were literally on Janelle Monáe, who attended the afterparty in a minidress adorned with a variety of googly eyes. There were even googly eyes stuck on her head and platform shoes.

While Sabrina Carpenter’s white, double-strapped Mary Jane platforms did not have googly eyes on them, the singer’s skirt on her minidress was stuck with giant flowers galore.

Usually a scene stealer, Sydney Sweeney’s afterparty look was underwhelming. The Euphoria star rocked a handkerchief crop top like it was the early noughties. At least it was Miu Miu.

Dua Lipa was all about the accessories at the afterparty. She teamed her crystal-encrusted bra top and high-waisted trousers with a boxy black hat embellished with rhinestones and netting, while capping off her look with fishnet gloves.

There were no fishnets in sight for Charli XCX. The singer’s accessories of choice for the evening were dark sunglasses and a glass of wine.

Matt Damon’s wife, Luciana Barroso, arrived in a more risqué outfit than we are used to seeing her in. The mum-of-four wore a white tank top paired with a mesh black skirt over her black underwear. But props to her for choosing comfort over couture in her Veja sneakers.

Kylie Minogue looked just as effortless in her afterparty look. She didn’t wear white sneakers, but the Aussie singer looked comfortable in her white gown with layers of elegant lace.

Also a vision in not one but two white numbers was Kendall Jenner. The model wore two different white outfits – one with angel wings, the other with lace – as she partied the night away.

Lana Del Rey wore a floral veil to the afterparty. Looking every inch the princess, the singer was stunning in her semi-sheer, drop-waist dress.

Also looking goddess-like was Zendaya in her column-style grey gown, custom-made for her by Loewe. Flawless as always.

Lizzo rocked up to the afterparty with fellow singer SZA. The duo wore their brightest frocks yet – Lizzo in a velvet fuchsia ensemble complete with wings and SZA in a plunging neon romper.

Lizzo’s appearance at the Met wasn’t without controversy.

After she was panned by critics for her red carpet look (she accessorised her floral gown with a matching headpiece fans likened to a “coffee filter”), Lizzo labelled the comments “fatphobic”.

“If I’m not in your best dressed, you’re fatphobic,” she wrote on Instagram.
