Staff Accountant
The Staff Accountant is responsible for all general accounting tasks and will be responsible for assisting the Controller in compiling the monthly reports for Department and Senior Management review. This position addresses tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities including general ledger preparation, accounts payable, accounts receivable, invoicing, collections and account reconciliations. The Staff Accountant requires strong interpersonal communication skills both written and verbal.
Key responsibilities include:
Obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure.
Ensure an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end close.
Analyze G/L accounts and ensure accuracy of general ledger and compliance with GAAP.
Perform accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, including bank deposits and credit card processing
Assist the Controller with banking requirements.
Liaise with employees and corporate human resources and payroll departments.
Support Controller with budgeting, special projects and workflow process improvements.
Supervise and assist other accounts payable and office staff with duties, as needed.
Develop and maintain relationships with vendors, customers, department managers, related entities and homeowners’ associations.
Monitor and update appropriate vendor contracts and governmental licenses.
Job Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree preferred
2 - 5 years of accounting experience preferred
1 - 3 years of construction management or general contracting industry experience preferred
Great work ethic and ability to manage numerous projects simultaneously
Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word
Ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment
